The partners of the MILLOPRECISO project, Precision agriculture with silage corn in Galicia, held a coordination meeting on Wednesday, February 8, at the facilities of the Polytechnic School of Engineering (EPSE) of the Campus Terra in Lugo. The meeting was attended by Marcos Otero on behalf of the agricultural contracting company Marcos Otero S.L., Francisco López on behalf of Ladrela Dairy farm, Javier Bueno from the BioModem R+D group of the EPSE and Anxela Montero and Beatriz Moure on behalf of FEUGA.
At the meeting, the activities and technical tasks to be carried out in the second year of the project that will end on September 30 have been reviewed. The extension tasks to be developed in the year and the execution of the planned budget have also been planned.
The MILLOPRECISO project focuses on the development of precision agriculture in Galicia with the cultivation of silage corn. This management system allows a more efficient use of resources improving crop productivity.
MILLOPRECISO proposes to develop a procedure for producing yield maps that clean the errors that appear in the raw data recorded by self-propelled forage harvesters. With the proper treatment of the information, it will be possible to generate greater added value by using yield maps to optimize seed and fertilizer rates in the silage corn crop in Galicia. Through the analysis of the quality of the data obtained by the machines, a processing method will be established to refine them and obtain maps that can be used to improve the efficiency of the silage corn production system in Galicia.
